Hello 4B Families,

Here is some important information:

  • If you would like to volunteer in our classroom, or for any upcoming field trips, please fill out the Annual Volunteer Registration by logging into your MyCBE Parent Account and clicking on the gold icon. Once you fill in the form, we will complete the next step for you at the school.  (Don't forget to upload a proper 'selfie' of yourself holding your ID...it can't just be a picture of the ID itself, you must be holding it.) All parents that volunteer must have both the Annual Volunteer Registration form filled out, as well as a current Police Information Check. If you need a Police Information Check, Mrs. Brinson can send you the letter you need after you fill in the Annual Volunteer Registration form. We look forward to having lots of parents or guardians in to help out this year!
  • If you ordered apples, the delivery is this Friday, October 25th. Since there is no school that day, families are welcome to come to the school from 2:00 - 4:00 pm for pick up. If you can't make it then, you can pick up on Monday, October 28th from 9:15 am - 4:30 pm.
Here is what we have been up to this week:

Writing - We started learning about paragraphs. 
   

Social Studies - We are learning about the regions of Alberta.  We build Alberta using loose parts and STEM materials. 
 

 
 


Diyas for Diwali - We learned how to make diyas for Diwali. 
 

 

Tech Tuesday/Literacy Stations - We are using our chromebooks to learn about mountains. We are still listening to the Six Minutes podcast. 
 

Health - We played 4 corners and learned that all the zones are okay!
 

Math - We strted learning about money - how to add and subtract money. 

Walk for Wenjack - ask your child about this important initiative!

Important Dates

October 25 - No School for students
October 25 - TENTATIVE date for apple delivery. (We will reach out to families once we have a firm confirmation with all of the details. The delivery will be based on when they will be apple picking for our order so they will be super fresh and straight from the orchard.)
November 5 - Photo Retake Day for those students needing retakes
November 7 – Hoodie and t-shirt sales end today

Hello everyone, Important reminders: May 1st (next Thursday) is PJ Day for 4B! The students showed effort, perseverance and kindness to earn hearts for our class jar. They got to vote between three options and chose PJ Day . Students will be allowed to bring 1 stuffy on this day. As long as their stuffy does not interfere with their or someone else's learning, students can have their stuffies on their desks. Please email me if you are able to volunteer for our upcoming field trip in May. Our class is looking for two more volunteers! Hello 4B Families! Important reminders: Our Family Math Night has been cancelled, as schools are not able to host evening events due to the CUPE Local 40 strike. If plans are made in the future to reschedule, we will communicate details at that time. Thanks for your understanding! Next week, the weather is supposed to be warmer. This will mean that the playground will be slushy and muddy. Please help your child dress in footwear that will keep their feet dry. Running shoes are not the safest or best choice for playing outside in this type of weather. All students (from K-5) should always keep a change of clothes in their backpacks that they can change into if they get wet or muddy. This includes socks, pants, shirts and underwear. Having clothes to change into will ensure they are comfortable and that they classroom is staying clean. Hello everyone, I have the BEST students :) Here is what we have been up to up this week: Writing - We are learning about procedural writing. We practiced writing instructions on our whiteboards about simple things (how to tie your shoelaces, how to build a fort, how to do long division). We then practiced writing in our writing journal.                      Gratitude - We wrote about what makes us smile :) Science - We are learning about static electricity. Ask your child about this! Math - We started learning about long division. We will continue practicing next week. We took a short break from it to learn about collecting data and graphing. As we are moving towards more complex math concepts, it is really important to be fluent with your multiplication facts.          Have a wonderful weekend! Stay warm!
