Hello everyone,

Here are some important reminders:

  • Parent/Teacher/Student Learning Conferences will be in person at Northern Lights School on November 28 and 29. We ask all families to make time to attend this important conference where teachers will be discussing learning progress to this point in the year. Conferences will be 15-minutes in length. Families will receive an email on November 15 letting them know that they are open for booking now. Once open, parents and guardians must book their own conference time through their MyCBE parent account. (Please use a computer or laptop, not a Smart phone to access your MyCBE account if you are having difficulties.) The conference dates and times are November 28th (4:30 pm to 8:00 pm) and November 29th (9:00 am to 2:00 pm). If you have booked already, THANK YOU! If you have not booked yet, please take time this weekend to book an appointment.

Here is what we have been up to up this week: 

We are getting used to our new learning space!

 

ELAL - Predictions - We are learning about making predictions and inferences. For a task, we create a comic and only filled out 3 out of 4 boxes. Next week, we will have a partner make predictions about our comic. 
 

 
 
 

Literacy Stations - We played UpWords!
 

 

Social Studies - We finished our Grassland/Parkland posters. 
 

 
 

Math - We continued to learn about factors and multiples. We played lots of games to strengthen our understanding of these concepts.

Zen Doodles - Calm start to our morning
 


Art - We cut our the circle we made last week and traded them with others to make a new, unique circle. When we all come together to create something, it turns out beautiful. 
 

Buddies - We talked about hibernation (Gr. 1 concept) and animals in the regions (Gr. 4 concept). We built a habitat for an animal that hibernates.

Hello everyone, Important reminders: May 1st (next Thursday) is PJ Day for 4B! The students showed effort, perseverance and kindness to earn hearts for our class jar. They got to vote between three options and chose PJ Day . Students will be allowed to bring 1 stuffy on this day. As long as their stuffy does not interfere with their or someone else's learning, students can have their stuffies on their desks. Please email me if you are able to volunteer for our upcoming field trip in May. Our class is looking for two more volunteers! Hello 4B Families! Important reminders: Our Family Math Night has been cancelled, as schools are not able to host evening events due to the CUPE Local 40 strike. If plans are made in the future to reschedule, we will communicate details at that time. Thanks for your understanding! Next week, the weather is supposed to be warmer. This will mean that the playground will be slushy and muddy. Please help your child dress in footwear that will keep their feet dry. Running shoes are not the safest or best choice for playing outside in this type of weather. All students (from K-5) should always keep a change of clothes in their backpacks that they can change into if they get wet or muddy. This includes socks, pants, shirts and underwear. Having clothes to change into will ensure they are comfortable and that they classroom is staying clean. Hello everyone, I have the BEST students :) Here is what we have been up to up this week: Writing - We are learning about procedural writing. We practiced writing instructions on our whiteboards about simple things (how to tie your shoelaces, how to build a fort, how to do long division). We then practiced writing in our writing journal.                      Gratitude - We wrote about what makes us smile :) Science - We are learning about static electricity. Ask your child about this! Math - We started learning about long division. We will continue practicing next week. We took a short break from it to learn about collecting data and graphing. As we are moving towards more complex math concepts, it is really important to be fluent with your multiplication facts.          Have a wonderful weekend! Stay warm!
